I will announce the giveaway winner soon, I promise,
but a lot more people entered than I expected,
and it's taking time to tally up how many entries everyone earned
with extra posts and comments and tweets.
What did I get myself into?!
Did you see my interview with Pioneer Woman?
Now on to today's post.
I love my little sister, The Bug.
She's moved to California, and I miss her terribly.
She was in town for Christmas, and it was so wonderful to see her.
She gave my boys Peruvian water whistles.
Well, she also gave my older son, Donny, who's 11, a book called The Big Book of Boy Stuff.
And boy has he learned stuff from this book.
We all have.
A lot of my tweets on Twitter these days are from this book.
thought provoking questions like:
Why is a boxing ring square?
If you choke a smurf, what color does it turn?
Do fish get thirsty?
If a number 2 pencil is so popular, why is it still number 2?
If corn oil comes from corn...where does baby oil come from?
And then there are the pranks.
My mouse was pranked.
The book taught him to tape a small piece of paper to the bottom of my mouse to interfere with the signal, causing me to think my mouse was broken.
The gallon of milk in the refrigerator was pranked.
The book taught him to put food dye in things.
The first gallon of milk was pink
the second is now a bluish-purple,
hence a lot of my meals have been the same hue...
my cream of wheat was blue mush.
the meat and noodles I made tonight was blue.
Thanks, Bug.
I'm going to give your kids
drums, whistles, water guns, a cow bell, play dough, slime,
fart putty, whoopee cushions, moon sand, glitter
and a big book of pranks.
All at once.
You just wait.

I colored our milk green once... it was really hard to drink. I also bought green ketchup once.. ended up throwing it out no one would use it.
I hate to be a party pooper, but i hate pranks.
I wonder why that is???
Oh I have to get that book for Nessa's son. He would have a blast with it. LOL
WTG sister Bug! This book sounds like so much fun, boy or not! OMG, I can't believe he put food coloring in your milk. That's soooooooooooo funny!!!!!!!!!! heeheheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Justine :o )
Sounds like the perfect gift for an 11 year old boy. For his Mom... not so much. LOL I know you'll have as much fun as you can with it.... and then one day the book will mysteriously disappear.
It probably does have some neat stuff in there though.
One of my best friends (also my cousin's wife) very seriously told me once... "It's a fear-type thing we me. I can't eat blue food. I just can't. So, your cousin and his son think it's funny to put blue food dye in our mashed potatoes and stuff."
Now, I totally disregarded how cruel my cousin is, because, well, I already knew that - duh, we're family. But, this comment really got me to thinking and trying to come up with how many foods are blue... basically, I was thinking my bf/cousin's wife was a little wacky. Other than blue berries, and maybe some jell-o, I'm at a loss.
That is hilarious.....only because its happening to you...not me. ;) I don't think I'll be buying that book for Zander....
We always remind people when they give out 2 year old a LOUD ASS toy with not volume control, that turn about is fair play!!!
I also tried the green ketchup...BLAH!!
I do love it - but paybacks are a real b*tch so I am thinking she needs to be looking over her shoulder already!
Whether she has kids yet or not - you could still be "getting even". Heck send your son (with his book) to visit. Tell him that Aunt Bug would love to experience the book first hand.
I know I'm bad
That'll teach her!
That is hilarious. My mom's best friend has a son that is the same age as my brother. And when they were young, they always tried to out-do each other on the most obnoxious gifts ever. Usually it was who could find the nosiest present. I think that they would both love Bugs antics. But she really out to just wait. You know what they say about payback!
I really need to go and buy one of those books ... for me ... before someone buys my Grandsons's one. :-)
I love pranks and I love playing them. It's the kid, that still lurks somewhere inside of me...
Oh the Bug doesn't know what she has done, does she?!?!?!
Shout to my sister - don't even think about getting this for my boys - they get into enough on their own! Too fun!!
That book is a gift that keeps on giving, huh?
It is for that exact reason I do not buy things for other peoples children I would not want my own to have. Revenge is sweet :)
I will remember NEVER to give that book to Hayden. If someone gives it to him, then I am going to loose it.
I'm thinking I really need a copy of that book...
That is funny as hell. I would love to see some of the stuff he does. You should take pictures of your colored meals. hahahahaha
I'm not so sure I could drink green milk!
Poor Bug!! Feel for ya girl. You know it always comes back 10 fold.
My little sis and her family live in Cali, too. It's such a long, long way away! That book on boys looks interesting...I'm gonna pick one up for my SIL. Thanks!
What no picture? And you are the queen of pictures!
I think we are related to the same sister. Last year, she bought my son a remote control tarantula. That's OK, I bought Silly String for all my little nephews - about a dozen cans. Made a huge mess!
Actually, I felt really guilty about that, but they had a blast with it.
That is too funny ... my son needs this book! It's right up his alley. Ok, tell me about Twitter ... I know you mentioned it before, but I never looked into it.
One year, on St. Patrick's Day, leprechauns turned our milk green. The kids thought was so cool.
I was going to buy that book for my boys until I read blue milk. Thanks for saving me from that.
i was like.... wha?
:) great book!
and i think your "gift list" for others' kids...;) perfect revenge!
happy thursday rhea!
xo

When you twitted about the purple-hued milk I wondered what was going on. And why it wasn't PINK. I see now that the first batch was, indeed, the proper shade. Go Donny!
That is so funny!! I have never been a good prankster and those are awesome:-)
Oh hell. I better make sure my nephews don't discover that one. At least not right now when I'm liking their parents. But, next time my BIL pisses me off....ha!
Don't forget to throw some Floam in there. Those stupid tiny white things go all over the damn house.
Wait a minute. Your food is blue, but you're still going to miss the person responsible? You are a good sister.
OK, that's funny! I have GOT to get that book for Spiderman.
I think I might get this for myself and play pranks on everyone here at home!
That is too funny. Now I want blue noodles.
That book sounds hilarious. As long as it isn't in your own house!
"The Bug" is going into hiding and will refuse to accept gifts from 'said sister' until this episode is forgotten.
Go Donny!!!
Oh man I have to get that book. My husband is such a prankster, but I can never think of anything to get back at him!!!
That book sounds like a riot! I would have loved those pranks when I was a kid...
