Sunday Somethings

Sunday.
Sunday.
Sunday.

I slept in
(thank you, sweet bed, I'm forever grateful).

I'm wearing my glasses,
not my contacts,
& still in my night clothes at 10am.

I love having a slow-paced Sunday morning.
Especially after the week I've had...
With my new manager promotion, I'm busy trying to learn lots of new duties,
as well as keep up with my old duties,
because we don't have anyone new to replace me yet.
And, I don't want my team to get behind with their work,
so I need to do my part to keep up.

Have I mentioned I'm so glad today is Sunday?

I could spend today a myriad of ways.

I could spend it getting more familiar with Excel,
because in my new managerial position I have to use Excel a LOT.

I could use it reading up on training & my notes from the week...

I need to write three blog posts for UpTake.
I need to write one blog post for United Credit Source.

I could clean & organize my closet.
I have lots of laundry to do.

I could read a book...for work or pleasure.

You know what I've decided to do today?

First, I'm going to take my boys swimming...

I'm going to meet up with my grandmother to get pedicures...

and then I'll try to do all that other stuff.

6:15pm on a random Tuesday

This child gives me five hugs in the morning before I leave the house for work.

Then he follows me out of the house to give me one more hug at the car.

Remy really loves his mama.

This photo makes me smile.
Because Texas Homeboy and Donny are both wearing Longhorn burnt orange...
and watching Remy play baseball.

Donny is 12...and just as tall as I am.
His feet are bigger than mine.
He beat me at chess the other night...which has NEVER happened before.

I can claim exhaustion because I'd just finished working a 12 hr day.
More on that later...

This photo captures my family in a normal moment.
Remy packing up his bat bag after baseball practice,
Texas Homeboy chugging his Gatorade,
and Donny checking Annie's collar.

And me at the camera.

Sweet Annie dog loves her boys.
And we try to take her wherever we can.
She's a full member of our family.

A slobbery, hairy member of our family who snores.

NO, not ME!!

ANNIE.

Try to capture a normal moment in your routine...it's fun!

Did I tell you that I made manager at work?!
more on that later...

Tree Pimples

Did you know trees grew pimples?

And had toes?

And mouths...

And breasts...

And...well, you get the idea.

hehe

I bet you didn't know swings could turn into a contact sport

Donny called out, "Hey, Remy, let's swing!"

Where Donny goes, Remy generally follows.

"Let's play bumper swings."

Because when boys swing, they don't just swing.
They have to figure out how to make it a contact sport.

Of course, being five years apart in age, their sizes so different,
Remy ends up getting hurt, usually.

And Donny usually tries to make him laugh to make things better.

It works.

The boys went on a safari with their grandparents yesterday.
My mom took lots of pictures that I hope to share soon.

Holy Mouse Ears!

In a couple of weeks, we're going to Disney World!
I only went once, as a child, so this is all very new to me...

and it's overwhelming!!

We're going with three of my sisters and their kids,
so it's going to be a blast.

My boys are super excited.

I have a Disney World guide book thicker than the Bible.

Where should we go?
What should we see?

All you Disney experts out there, help me out!!!

I need tips, suggestions, & advice!

A Defining Moment

There comes a time in our life, that we reach a soul-defining moment.

And we just know, in the depth of our being, that this decision, that at this point,
we are making a decisive choice to take a different path...

to make a mark on the world.

I've had a soul-defining moment.

I reached for something I thought was beyond my grasp...

And I got it.

Now I have my chance to flourish.
To make a mark.
To make a difference.

And I'm ready to take it on.

Wish me luck.

Silly Raining Word Play

Rose are red,
Violets are blue.
I don't usually allow myself to write poetry,
& I know you wish I wouldn't too.

*******

Sunflowers are yellow,
Daisies are white.
I could create a masterpiece
in the quiet beauty of the night.

*******

Thistles are purple,
Dandelions grant wishes,
Does anyone have
any Hershey's Kisses?

*******

Leaves are usually green
until they fall off the tree.
Did you see that lady with
the tattoo of a butterfly on her knee?

*******

Keyboards are clicky,
your chair rolls nicely.
Will you please bring me
home a frozen coke icy?

*******

My shower steams up nicely,
my shampoo smells good.
Do you think I should give up
writing poetry for good?

Rhyming comments get extra points.

Don't let them know they made a mistake, or they might take it back.

There's been a big misunderstanding.

I think they got the wrong person.

Surely this was meant for Thea at Texas Word Triangle...

Somehow, I have been awarded a Hot Mamas award.

How did they know I get so warm?
As a teenager I loved to crank the AC down to arctic-like temperatures at night.
My favorite animal was a penguin.
Did you know that you can meet a live penguin at Galveston's Moody Gardens?

Sorry, I got sidetracked.

Anyway, I think the Hot Dads who bestowed this award upon me
must have gotten hit in the head.

So, don't tell them they made a mistake...
I'll take the award anyway.

You know, I did get called a hot mama once...
By this homeless guy outside a gas station...
actually, maybe he asked if I had "Pot, Mama."

hmmmm...

Have you taken the 10 steps to buying a home?

All the hot mamas are doing it.

Making the Most of Communication

You want to hear about my Monday yesterday?

I introduced Magnetic Poetry at the office where I work.

I bought a magnetic white board and got the OK to hang it in our break room.
Then I bought magnetic poetry kits and put the words up...

My co-workers can now express themselves...

In so many hilarious ways.

It's seriously addictive.
And a lot of fun.

I bought a kit for the kids too.
And the hilariousness has ensued.

I'm thinking about buying the "healing words" kit to put on the refrigerator,
so that my husband and I can communicate better...

We started marriage counseling yesterday.
It was raw.
It was hard.
It was sad & frustrating.

It was a step in solving our problems.

And, then, in classic Rhea Klutziness, at the end of the day,

I managed to fall out of my own car.

What do your shoes say about you?

What do your feet and your shoes say about you?

The site of these little stinky feet in pale red Crocs makes me smile.

My seven-year-old son lives in these shoes,
except on days he has PE,
when he has to wear his tennis shoes.

To me, these mean he can put them on himself and be out the door quickly.
They represent his favorite color...and independence.

My older son, who's 12, wears a larger size shoe than I do now.
I don't know why that amazes me, but it does.

He's growing so fast.
Sure the hormone brothers visit occasionally,
but he's such a great kid.

We have the most incredible conversations.

He usually only wears tennis shoes.
My sensible kid.

And this is me in all my paleness.
I just realized I'm pale beyond pale...from wearing pants to work every day.

I usually live in shorts, but we can't wear those at work...

so this year, I'm paler than pale.

I'm paleness defined.

I used to have only a few pairs of shoes that I wore.
Now I have a ton...and I wear them all the time.
I have my cowgirl boots I wear at least once a week with a fun skirt.
And the plethora of shoes my mom gave me for work.

My latest desire?
Pink boots.

If you bought some cowgirl boots, what color would you want?
What do your shoes say about you?

Did you know there are websites devoted to celebrity feet?
And I'd totally love to visit the Bata Shoe Museum
