Ok, I sound totally stupid, hadn't planned on sharing this, but VBF wants to hear if I have a Texas accent. I don't! At least, I don't think it's very strong compared to others I know...but surely, having been born and raised in the Lone Star State, I have some accent...you be the judge!
Donny is my older son talking, and Remy is the six year helplessly giggling like a maniac throughout the entire clip. This is from our outing last weekend where Annie went diving for sticks...before she went for the really big ones. lol
Enjoy! This is my first video upload...so be gentle. :o)

HA!!!!! HOW EXCELLENT!!! :-) I Got so excited when i saw the title of this post!!! :-)
Your voice is AWESOME!!! You're right... it's not quite as Texan as I expected :-) But then again... I wouldn't really know! :-)
It's so weird, I've never actually met or heard an American speak in person! Only ever on TV which makes it hard for me to imagine that your video is real... it's more like a TV show to me coz of your accents :-) *GiGGLeS*
Oh your little boys laughter is ADORABLE!!!! And so is ANNIE!!!
I was smiling all through it!!!
Thanks for this!! This is my favourite post of yours so far! :-D *GiGGLeS* You should post vids more often!!!xx
VBF - Thanks, you're too sweet. I think I sound so weird on that...and I'm using my "Annie" voice where I kind of baby talk her name, talk about embarrassing.
Remy was seriously laughing like a maniac. It was hilarious but we were laughing so much at Annie's stick finding abilities. We had no idea how stick-crazy she was!!
I will try to do posts like this more, thanks!!
One time when I visited my sister in Houston for a month, I had someone from Texas tell me that I had a funny accent. Mine must be pretty southern. I used to have people from New Jersey just call this place that I worked one time just to listen to me talk. They would seriously put me on speaker phone.
That laugh is great! And I don't hear a Texas or southern accent at all. But then again I am from the south...and I don't think I have an accent either. Until I went to Chicago and people there informed me that I had a "strange" accent. Actually I don't really know anyone around here with a noticable Southern accent.
Kat - I love a good Southern accent. My relatives in Louisiana have a really nice one I love!
I don't hear a Texas accent, and believe me...I've heard some thick ones! :)
Andrea - Thanks! As much as I love being from Texas and love this place to pieces, I do not want to have that really thick accent. lol An accent I hear around me plenty.
I don't hear a southern accent in your voice at all.
Fun posts!!! I love that little giggle.
You have a nice voice with a southern accent...distinctly indistinct, is what I'd call it. :) Me? I have a horrid drawl...even after living in Alaska for 15 years(trying to lose it the whole time) and coming back home, I got it back. Great post! And thanks for visiting my blog. I'm bookmarking yours - hope you'll visit mine again.
Oh my gosh your son's laugh is adorable!!! I couldn't help but laugh along with him! :D Your dog is so cute by the way....my Danes won't even step in puddles let alone swim! :D
Oh and your accent...not bad at all! I have family in Dallas and oh man are their accents thick! ;P
I would know that accent anywhere my husband the sweet one I wrote about, he is Texan through and through born and raised in Dallas...
My first visit to your blog :) You don't sound as Texan as some other Texans I know. The dog looks like great fun!
I wouldn't know if your accent was Texan at all as I am not very good at accents anyway, but your voice is much better than some Americans I have herd over the years.
I can empathise with you thinking your voice is stupid (I dont mean that yours is) as I absolutely hate hearing my voice it always sounds so thin and squeaky to me but I have been told otherwise.
that was a lovely video btw very natural and good to see a family having fun together.
Nicole - Whew, I'm relieved. I don't mind a little accent, but I don't want to be drippin' it thicker than gravy.
Karen - Oh, wait, I do have a southern accent? I'm getting conflicting reports! lol distinctly indistinct, I like that. Those pesky accents don't like to go away for too long, like your living in Alaska. How cool! (pun intended.lol)
Crazy4Danes - My son was laughing like a maniac. I'm didn't know danes didn't like the water...or is it just your great danes? Labs LOVE the water.
Happy Mommy - Your perfect husband IS perfect if he's from Texas. lol Cool! Thanks for coming by my blog!
Dlyn - Thank you also for coming by! It's funny how thick some accents are.
Lady in Red - It is funny we hear ourselves so differently. Bizarre!
Thanks about the video. It was a spur of the moment thing while we were at the park. I keep forgetting my camera has video options, and I wanted to record Annie because she was soo funny fetching sticks. It didn't occur to me until we got home later that I should put it on the blog! (Especially after VBF said she wanted to hear my accent.)
BTW, VBF, if you're listening, I want to hear YOUR accent! Crikey, mate.
Are you sure you're from Texas? I didn't hear one "Ya'll" during that whole clip!
That giggle should be packaged and sold as a therapy tool for when you're having a bad day. Loved it.
I have often said that the best sound in the world is that of a young child laughing....oh ok there are ohers that I rate too but that is one of the top ones
Jeff - I actually say and type "Y'all" all the time! It's surprising I didn't say it in that video. lol I agree about the giggle. Feel free to come play the video anytime you're having a bad day.
Lady in Red - I agree, children laughing (and wild maniac children laughing) are some of the best sounds ever.
Loved this post!! Your voice sounds normal...maybe that's "cuz" I'm from Texas too!! Yeee Haww!!
Chatti Patti - Texas rocks! Yeee Haww!!! Giddy up, podner. :o)
Awwww. How fun to see Annie in action. And neat to hear your sweet voices. And Remy's giggle is so very infectious!
Susan - His giggle made this video hilarious! I didn't even realize how much he was giggling at the time I recorded it.
Of course, your diction sounds perfect to me! :) I am reminded of the story of a young man who was showing visitors around his Southern hometown, and the woman said, "You have such a Southern accent." He replied, "I am from here, so I am not the one with the accent."
I agree with everyone else-- between the giggles and the dog's search for something to retrieve, this video is charming!
No Texas accent at all. Just an american accent, for me, at my level. You can believe me. I'm just like VBF, impossible for me to detect an accent (other than french, canadian, or swiss), it's yet fantastic if I understand what you say! But I feel reassured, I catch most of it :)
What I can tell you, Rhea, is that your children and mine laugh the same way. Laugh is UNIVERSAL. Thanks for commenting in my blog. Now you will get me in yours very often!
Erin - Thanks! Cute story about the accents. Who knew Remy's giggles would be so popular? lol He's a funny little boy...and before that day, we never knew how stick-crazy our dog was.
Catherine - Glad to hear I sound American...since I am. I'm glad you understood most of what I said. How many languages do you speak?
Laughter is universal, I agree. Thanks for coming by!
I read English, Italian, Spanish (though since I've learnt Italian I'm mistaken with both language), speak and write less easily than I read, I've learnt Latin (4 years) as you do, but it's more normal, since I get a Latin language. And that's all.
Do not try to write me in Latin, I would understand, but I'm too lazy to respond with the same language : )
Catherine - Don't worry, I won't write you in Latin. I'm a little rusty there myself.
I'm impressed you can read so many languages!
