There's a Skull Growing in the Kitchen.

You thought I was kidding?

It starts out a few inches tall...and you throw it in water...and watch it GROW!
It's a novelty toy from Toy Joy, the best toy store ever, in Austin, Texas.
I lived in Austin for 18 years!
Before that I lived on a ranch.

Now I'm getting off track...

A gigantic growing skull is a little creepy, but we can consider it science, right?

Oh, speaking of science!

My 12 yr old's science experiment is currently being stored in the kitchen as well.

Wanna guess what he's doing?

I just started reading your blog and I REALLY enjoy it! We use those growing things in my class as a science and math project. We measure the growth from day to day and make predictions. It's also neat to watch it shrink once you take it out of the water! P.S. the bigger the container, the bigger it grows! :)

Look at your family being all nerdy science-y and stuff. ;)

Is your son... growing different types of mold? Or testing to see what kind of things will stain our teeth by putting an egg in stuff? I'm just tryin' to think of the things I did in science class when I was little.

I saw a toy snake that does a similar thing! Needless to say I did not purchase it!

What a lovely garden of plastic cups and Halloween decor!

We have had those "growing" things too. I once had a snake in our bathtub for over a week.

I'm going to guess there's different beverage fermenting in those cups.

It doesn't surprise me that you would have a skull growing in your kitchen. Or that you lived in Austin for years!

It's either a new contraption to maintain the freshness of cheap draft beer or a state of the art defense for a variation of beer pong. (Hope he has a patent.)

That's SUCH a cool skull- it's huge! I have no idea what the other science project is, though...
