I struggle.
I struggle with lots of things.
How to be a good parent.
How to get healthy.
How to get organized.
How to make a difference in this world.
How to do good for others.
And I recently read a book that made a difference to ME.
And the same person who wrote that book and has made such a huge impact in kids' lives in rural Pakistan and Afghanistan has also started a program called Pennies for Peace.
By participating in Pennies for Peace we can make a positive impact on a global scale, one penny at a time. While a penny is virtually worthless, in impoverished countries a penny buys a pencil and opens the door to literacy.
We can join Pennies for Peace and give lasting hope to children half a world away!
The website for Pennies for Peace offers a free downloadable toolkit to help start the program.
I don't know about you, but I'm thinking of letting my sons' teachers know about it so they can do it at school...and I may try to start it at work, so I can feel like I'm making a difference somewhere, somehow.
That is SO important to me.

Excellent idea Rhea, we're behind you all the way!
If you're snowed-in, then visit Homemadegymstuff for something to make and burn off those Hot-Choc cals ;)
excellent idea...
What better way then to get schools involved in something like this.
Happy Friday!
My mom loves this book. I guess I am going to have to read it.
And, yes, so important to make our contribution to this world, especially when we have so much and others have so little.
Thank you Rhea for bringing this to our attention. I will be looking at it as well and see how I can contribute to it.
Thank you for sharing - a little can go a long way.
Good post thank

I can suggest to visit to you a site on which there is a lot of information on this question. Hot Health
Good i like.
I just stumbled onto your blog today and I love it! You are an awesome writer. I am so glad you made this post about pennies for peace. I am going to bring this up to the other parents at our next PTO meeting and also at my daughter's next Girl Scout meeting. This program sounds like a great way to teach children about how they can help others and also about how fortunate they are to have the freedoms they have.
Thanks again!

I loved this book too. It taught me alot of things, like: one person can make a huge difference, a person can actually LIVE on beans and rice, and one person's passion can be contagious.
