Arte y Pico & an embarrassing moment

Angie at Angie's Spot has awarded me a wonderfully gorgeous award called Arte y Pico.

This is Arte y Pico award originated in Uruguay from a fabulous blogger who can test your Spanish comprehension skills if you pay her a visit. Here are the rules that accompany this esteemed award.

1. Choose 5 blogs that you consider deserving of this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contribute to the blogging community.

2. Each award has to have the name of the author and a link to his/her blog.

3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name of and link to the blog that presented her/him with the award.

4. The award winner and the one who has given the prize has to show the link of Arte Y Pico blog so everyone will know the origin of this award.

5. Show these rules.

So, I'm going to pass this along, but I like to break rules, so I may not give it to five bloggers. I'll give it to:

Sarah at Brit' Gal in the USA

Tressa at American in Norway

Tranny Head at Law School Sucks...and so do Lawyers

Jennifer at The Cotton Wife

And, just so this post isn't all about awards or leaving anyone out...let me share my embarrassing story of the week.

My house is a mess. Seriously. The kids have gotten every toy out and left it lying around. The dishes got a little backed up. Things were just horrible. So, I was finally sick of it, pulled out a trash bag, got the kids to listen and said, "It's time. Today we're cleaning." And, as I opened the trash bag to start pickin up trash...the door bell rang. OMG, who was it?!!

It was my employer. She had stopped by with her 4yr old to give me a gift certificate to a restaurant, to thank me for my hard work. Beyond sweet. However, the 4yr old Princess Dorothy, took off into my house and mom had to go in after her. INTO MY HOUSE. INTO THE MESS. I was mortified.

Needless to say, this house is getting cleaned up fast now. Just in case others stop by...so I can sleep easy at night. OMG, how embarrassing!!!!

Please tell me this has happened to you. I'm not the only one?!

Surely, since she's a mom, she understands....you can't expect a clean house when you drop by unexpected!

Hey thanks for this! I'll make this tomorrow's post.

And yep - happens to me allllll the time. I've been trying to clean today since I know people will be droppingby incessantly once the baby gets here!

Rhea thank you, I will also make this tomorrow's post and it will give me time to decide who to give it too. It's for different stuff so it will be nice to give to other blogs.

Yes this has happened to me and I was also mortififed. In fact last Friday I just threw out a dinner invite for 45 mins later, hung up, looked around and thought OMG! Never knew I could dust, hoover and tidy most of my home in 50 mind before!

This happens to me repeatedly. My small children are still at that age where anything they can take apart they will. (This includes shredding paper. Makes me feel like I'm living in a hamster cage.) They four little hamsters are under the impressiom that we only clean if someone is coming over. Arghhhhh! So everyday when I attempt to get the place looking like a house instead of a hamster cage, they ask, "Who's coming over?" Honestly!

Krystyn - I hope she understands. However, having worked as a nanny, at her house, for six months, I never, ever saw her house a mess like mine was. She has a 4 yr old and a 1 yr old and works full time and has a beyond neat and oragnized house! HOW is that possible?!!

The Cotton Wife/Jennifer - You're welcome! Cleaning sucks. Or, perhaps it is better put, I suck at cleaning.

Birtgal Sarah - You are outta your mind, girlfriend, throwing out dinner invites with less than an hour to clean! I salute you, you're amazing to have dusted, hoovered and tidied in that amount of time. ( I can tell you don't have young kids at home!)

Karen - omg, hamster children! I love the imagery! That's soo funny. Mine must be part-hamster too, because I find shredded bits occasionally. I wish I could blame it on the dog, but no, it's all the BOYS.

Hey girl! THANK YOU! I have already posted mine! : )
Have I ever been embarressed having someone drop over? HELLO?
My gosh, that is part of the Norwegian culture..people always pop over without calling... I HATE it... I normally have laundry on the dining room table... (I am sure my mamma is so proud right now!)

She has a 4 year old. OF COURSE she understands. LOL
My house is always a mess anymore. But you do what you can. Yes, yes, yes, people have stopped by and I've been horrified, but they aren't visiting to see the house, they are coming to see us, and if they are kind and our friends, they won't care.
Now my MIL, OHMYGOD, if she comes I'm a wreck.

I have given up a long long time ago on keeping the house clean and picked up. What you see is what you get. Try not to trip on anything, sorry if you do.

I think it seems to happen ONLY when my house is completely out of control. I hate when people drop by. Even a warning phone call of five minutes isn't enough for me. I feel your pain. Awful feeling just reading your post.

You're welcome Rhea!

And I HATE unexpected company. But, if they showed up bearing gifts, I might be a bit more forgiving. My house stays in a constant state of disaster, so I think I've pretty handily scared most people from just "dropping in". What a great gift from your employer!

Oh you're so lucky! Getting all these awards, AND A CERTIFICATE??

heehee I sooo know what you mean! My house is always a pigsty, in fact when someone knocks on my door, I run into a room and hide to predent I'm not home! LOL

I am in fear of that happening everyday. I need to go home and clean my house. :)

Oh Rhea, You are so funny. Don't you know that if a house doesn't look messy and lived in it usually means that the parents don;t play much with their kids and spend all their time cleaning instead?
