You know you're in Texas when you see big barns like this...
and this... and lots of these creatures...
and miles of this... and yet even more of these creatures... and random sightings of these... and lots of fields of like these... Aren't you glad we had this talk? Now you'll know when you're in Texas.
Kat - The horses eating the hay is just 1/2 a mile down the road. The barn and other horse is in the middle of a neighborhood in our town's downtown area, and the tractor was neat the new park we found, about 15 minutes away. So, it's all within a 15 miles radius. Our town is partly suburban, partly rural...all mixed up, confused personality. lol
OhMommy - Thanks! It is new. You're not losing it...yet.
Wonderful World of Weiners (Hallie) - I'm so sorry you didn't see any of these things on your Texas trip. I don't live in the big city, and the big cities don't have as much of this, unfortuneately.
If it weren't for the cut out of the state of Texas on that barn I almost thought you were here. Really it looks alot more like Shelbyville, TN. Except for the cut out of Texas on the barn. :)
Tez - Holy feckington? That's a new swear phrase! I like it, it has a certain ring to it. lol
Oh, no you didn't. You didn't just ask what we're compensatin' for. Get a rope!
Valarie - That's cool it looks like TN! This area (north of Dallas) is so much flatter than the area of Texas I grew up in. I grew up in the Hill Country and Austin, and it is super hilly there. Big cliffs, lots of rivers, etc. This area is nice, but I miss my hill country.
Ain't never bin to Texas, but would love to visit some day. The funny thing is, I could have taken those very pictures, and I live in California! I'm about 30 mins away from Vacaville, Brentwood, Napa ... farm country. It's beautiful to have wide open spaces so close by. And nice that you have Texas pride.
Hey!!! Where'd my comment go??? Bloody Bloggles must have eaten it!!
*GiGGLES* Anyways.. what it said was... "see... it's Just like in the movies!" :-P
Serioiusly, I'd feel like I was on a movie set if I came to visit ya!
OHHH! You've got word verification!!! That's right! LOL :-) Thats why my comment didn't come through!!! *Blushes* I'm such a dumarse! xx Beautiful piccys! Looks unreal! :-) xx
Hi Rhea, You don't know me but, I've tagged you. To find out what I'm talking about please check out my last post: http://amloughrey.blogspot.com/2008/04/you-what-tagged.html I will apologise in advance. All the best, Anita
Dang, we have lots of old big barns...and lots of old wooden fencing, and about a zillion horse. And the think, I was under the impression that I lived in Northern California! LOL!
Britga' Sarah - I love barns that have been converted into houses. Very cool! Not worth a million or two though, sheesh. Thanks for coming by!
Uberburber - I think most farm countries look similar, you're right. :o)
VBF - What does your area of Australia look like? They've started filming lots of movies in Texas...Austin especially.
David McMahon - G'Day! Thanks for coming by! I think they'll still let you in Texas without a Stetson as long as you at least have some boots on or a cool belt buckle. hehe
Gene Bach - I think all farm land looks similar, frankly. I'll have to start posting pictures of Austin (where I've lived most my life), it's all hilly and beautiful. :o) Nice to meet you, thanks for coming by!
It looks like Normandy, here. Except we get cows, but I'm sure you get some hidden somewhere in your beautiful pictures. I never come to Texas either, if I do, I don't want to wear any Texas fancy dress as Woody or Jessy in Toy Story 2. Would you wear beret in Paris? ;)

How close is all this to your house? Are you in a rural or suburban area?

Holy Feckington, that tumbleweed's bigger than the horse!
Have a lovely day! :-)
P.S. Since everything's so big in Texas...for what are they compensating? ;-)

Beautiful horses and photos!
That's definitely not new york city.

In England they'd convert that big ol' barn into a beautiful home and sell it for a million pounds or $2 million if it was close to London!

All the best,

I have enjoyed jawing with you about Texas, but I've got to say one thing you Texan's definitely have is a love for your state.
It's a good kind of pride. So you just keep on showing us great pictures of your home. It looks like a wonderful place to raise a family.

Anita Marion Loughrey - Nice to meet you. I'm mosey on over and see what's going on in just a minute. We Texans, we mosey. No big hurries...
Jeff - I've had fun with your jawing, don't worry. Thanks for the sweet comment! :o)
Gene Bach - I think all farm land looks similar, frankly. I'll have to start posting pictures of Austin (where I've lived most my life), it's all hilly and beautiful. :o) Nice to meet you, thanks for coming by!

SO BOOOOOOOORING!!!!
AUstin Powers???? COOOL! xx
Oh BTW... Pop over to my place for a cuppa! :-) I've got something for you! xx
beautiful pictures - what a neat place to live. (I must admit, I'm always impressed/moved by Texans' great love for their state!).
Susan - Thanks!! We Texas are very loyal to our home state, that's for sure.
It looks like Normandy, here. Except we get cows, but I'm sure you get some hidden somewhere in your beautiful pictures.
I never come to Texas either, if I do, I don't want to wear any Texas fancy dress as Woody or Jessy in Toy Story 2. Would you wear beret in Paris? ;)
Catherine - How cool it looks like Normandy! We have cows too.
Oh, I'd wear a beret in Paris. When in Rome...or in this case, when in Paris... Do you know that expression?
Thanks for coming by!
How beautiful! Just looking at these photos makes me feel relaxed.
GoMommy - That's the first someone has said these photos were relaxing! I agree with you though, they are. :o) Thanks for coming by!
Wow are they magnificent creatures. =)
Thanks, Dawn! I love horses. They are just amazingly beautiful to look at. I used to ride...a long time ago, and I'd love to again someday.
