The Furballs: Week 4 with the rabbits

The Vet recommended we not get rabbits as pets.
My mom thought it was a bad idea.
Actually, everyone we spoke to thought it was a bad idea.

But, we decided to do it anyway, after a little research
and a dab of stubborness.

And we have now been rabbit owners for a month.

They eat this stuff:

They live in this cage (in the boys' room):

We change their bedding monthly so it doesn't smell.
We've discovered the cedar or pine shavings are the best.

They drink water from here:

They're sisters and love to be together:

They are hilarious.
They poop non-stop.
They can chage direction mid-air.
Sometimes they run around like wild animals at break-neck speed.
They scratch if they're startled.

They're adorable.

Have you had a non-dog or cat pet?
Good or bad experience?

We had a couple of box turtles that had free roam of the house. On occasion, it was a mad scramble to try to locate them under some piece of furniture or item. They hibernated behind the refrigerator each winter.

Rabbits can be trained to use a litterbox, too, and so can be eventually let out without fear of pooping everywhere. I don't see why so many people are against them.
We had a hamster when I was little, but it wasn't nearly as much fun as the cats or dog. Not smart enough. Then the disposable goldfish (waste of time).

Rabbits can be trained to use litter boxes?! No way! That's awesome! I'll have to look into that.

And that's wild that the turtles had free roaming privileges. I didn't know they hibernated also. very cool.

We've had hamsters, parakeet, and an iguana. That last one was quite interesting. Funny I should be answering your question today, because hubby gave him to me on Valentine's day many years ago and we called him Cupid. He grew, and grew, and we finally felt it best to adopt him out to someone with more room since we have a small home and couldn't increase the tank size again.
We now have 2 dogs and 1 cat and that's it for me. No more!
My daughter has some sort of rabbit but I don't know how she has time for it with 2 children and a foster child, a dog, and a puppy that they are temporarily caring for. That's wayyyy toooo much for me. But I'm an old granny now, so I do need my quiet time. LOL

Rhea, they are adorable! What are their names?? We had 2 rabbits years ago when my 2 older boys were young. Wilbur and Orville! they were great pets that the Easter Bunny Brought.

Lets see, we have had or still have: 2 rabbits, 2 chickens, fish, hamsters, hedge hog, box turtles, dachshunds, have an aquatic turtle and 2 cats! I think animals come with kids and we have raised 4 kids so I have run the gamut on animals. My youngest child is almost 12. And no, I don't live on a farm!
