Sunday Somethings

So we've been warned that Hurricane Ike is on it's way.
Even here, north of Dallas, we are in its path
and expected to get hurricane strong winds and flash flooding.

So, just in case we lose power here (please, no!)
I am setting this to auto-post.
BUT, now, as of Sunday morning, we had no problems!
My family in Houston is without power though. :o(

Did you know there was a war last month?
A five-day war where Russia attacked Georgia
(the country, not the U.S. state).
A war, an invasion, or something like that.
I didn't hear much about it in our local news.
I heard it on NPR's international news.

Do you know how foreign countries view us?
They think we're like the movies they see from Hollywood.
Yep. Weird huh? Makes me watch movies in a whole different light...

I'm ordering a car decal from Monogram Chick. Have you checked out her shop?
I LOVE her stuff. I'm going to be order more when my budget allows. She rocks.

Monogram Chick

My son came home with this artwork the other day.
It represents all four seasons. Isn't it cool?

Just a reminder, Special Mystery Guest Interview coming up Monday!

And, the other night, my eleven-year-old son needed to look up measurements on the Internet (because I totally suck at grams and kilograms and all that).
He wanted me to do it for him. I said no, he could do it on his own.
You know what he then said to me?

"Mama, if I look up measurements online, I'll probably end up buying car insurance."

I died laughing and helped him out.

I am glad that everything is in tact in Dallas. I have friends in Houston who were thinking of evacuating there and I guess they aren't the only ones. Do you guys have elbow room over there?

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

That Donny is one smart, funny, clever kid.

OMG, Donny!!!!!!!!!!!! He's so damn funny! I would have peed my pants had I been there! Smart, witty kid! Love Remy's (did I spell that right?) pictures. So artistic!

Hope you don't lose power. My friends in Friendswood just got theirs back on today. It was a really wild ride for them!

1. Hope your family is ok and that you keep your power. :)
2. Yeah. Those crazy Russians. I am starting to feel a chill from that direction. Can we say Cold War II?
3. I am trying, country by country to destroy this myth.
4. I LOVE her site. I was thinking about the car decal too.
5. YOu need to frame that art work. Awesome, seriously.

I am so cracking up at the last part and I can't wait to read about the mystery guest.
We are with out power right now (at grandma's house) and I live in Michigan. What gives.

The radio stations here had a grand time trying to convince their audiences that Russia was invading us. Some people were really fooled.

Isn't it interesting how other countries view us? Did you know that in order to tighten up adoptions in China, they won't let families that are overweight adopt?

And what does the car decal look like? I am thinking about getting my mom a lunch box for Christmas :-)

And how did my 60 something comments get down to 40something?

Seems like it wasn't too bad in Houston for my family...they got power back last night.

Those seasons are really cool...and buying car insurance? At least he didn't say anything about porn!

Hey Texan - Glad to hear you're OK. Your son sounds awesome and funny. And to get an idea of what some of the world thinks of US, I like to try and read news from other countries (that is written in English). Canada, Australia, and England.

Your kid is as funny as you! What a character.
I hope y'all are safe and have power.

Hope all is well with you in the face of Ike! My daughter recently returned from Spain, with disturbing news. When asked what American are like, Europeans most often say "John Wayne" and "George Bush." When asked what American stands for, they say "war." That's not really comforting to me. But on a completely different topic, BTW, I'm hosting a Recipe Week on my blog, starting tomorrow. Please stop by and see what's cookin'!

YAY we survived Ike.

Did you even get any wind your way?

Oh my gosh that was good! He is probably right he might end up buying some random insurance or something. Also Remy's project is way cute. :)

I've only been to TX once, when I was in college. We stayed in Galveston, Corpus Christi, and College Station. We checked out the stadium in Irving though, because my brother is a big Cowboys fan.

That's a long way to say that the photos of Ike's destruction make me sad.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today!! Good to 'meet' you!

Your sons are both pretty cool kids! :)

Of course Russia wouldn't invade our Georgia, it's wayyyyy to warm there for fighting. I've been to Hotlanta in the summer. Eew. ;)
