Did you know there are people out there who are really into clouds?
I mean, clouds are cool...
and who doesn't like them.
I've taken some amazing photos of clouds.
There were the ones that looked like an alien invasion...
and the other ones that looked like alien penguins fell from the sky.
What?
You don't see it?
You have to admit they're amazing though.
Anyway, these super-cloud groupies...they formed a group.
They're called the Cloud Appreciation Society.
As you can see, they sell books...and clothes and calendars.
Here's their manifesto:

The following is the Cloud Appreciation Society's declaration of principles:
- We believe that clouds are unjustly maligned and that life would be immeasurably poorer without them.
- We think that they are Nature’s poetry, and the most egalitarian of her displays, since everyone can have a fantastic view of them.
- We pledge to fight ‘blue-sky thinking’ wherever we find it. Life would be dull if we had to look up at cloudless monotony day after day.
- We seek to remind people that clouds are expressions of the atmosphere’s moods, and can be read like those of a person’s countenance.
- Clouds are so commonplace that their beauty is often overlooked. They are for dreamers and their contemplation benefits the soul. Indeed, all who consider the shapes they see in them will save on psychoanalysis bills.
- And so we say to all who’ll listen: Look up, marvel at the ephemeral beauty, and live life with your head in the clouds!
They sound a little cloud-nutty, but ultimately, their message is nice.
They say, stop and look at the clouds and appreciate them.
A more atmospheric version of "stop and smell the roses."
Nature's tea leaves to read the atmosphere's moods? I don't know...
Go outside RIGHT NOW and look up.
Do you see clouds?
What do they look like to you?
Use your imagination, what shapes do you see?
Are you any kind of groupie?
My mom started writing this post, but I hijacked it and make it into my own.
hehe
I'm crooked like that.
And, if you're really into weather, supernatural and romance,
boy have I got a fun book series for you to read.
The Weather Warden books.

You found me out, I actually belong to the Cloud Appreciation Society!! LOL seriously!
I have their books, I carry my camera everywhere for sky piccies and am never happier than when there are a few clouds around. That's why I do Skywatch every week and drive the hubster nuts as we drive along, me muttering about the clouds :-)
I saw that cloud guy on a talk show once! I do like clouds.... I work with an annoying woman who brings in pictures of clouds all the time that are supposedly the 'angels' that follow her around... I just don't see it.
Hey.. your mom was doing a great job! :)
I love looking at clouds. When we are on a long car ride Alexa and I always look at the clouds... sometimes we find ourselves among the creatures of Jurassic Park!
"Cloud groupies"... seriously?!
Although the cover photo of the cloud-pig is pretty cool!
Shout out Sarah - I'm a member too!! (shut it Shannon)
Cloud Appreciation Society handshake, baby.
All the cool kids are doing it - Em
I'm a fossil freak! I collect marine fossils and sharks teetch as often as I can. Then again, screwed up things are expected of me.
There is nothing kosher about that first cloud.. :-)
Thanks for the SITS welcome. Love your blog! I'm following and will come back to read more when I have time.
Your header is sooo cute.
Thanks for the recommendation on the books and LOML and I quite frequently lay on the ground outside looking up at the clouds.
The declaration of principals is cracking me up!
I have never really been THAT into something to be a groupie. But I do like the cloud pictures and enjoy some good cloud gazing.
I am going to look into that book, it has peaked my interest.
I do love clouds, but never knew there was a society for them. Wow. There was a really cool sky of clouds over the weekend in Frisco. Hubby made me pull over so he could take a picture with his cell phone.
Wow, people love clouds that much huh?!
Not much of a groupie for anything, but I have a fascination & love for quaint spots like B&Bs and eateries. There's no real group that I am aware of.
I'm gonna have nightmares tonight now... a pig with six legs?!?! Geesh - have you ever read my pig story, Rhea? I don't do pigs - and now you're telling me there's six-legged ones!!! I'm sleeping with the light one - I'm tellin' ya.
Thanks for stopping by my site and leaving me a note. I am looking forward to reading othe SITS bloggers.
I've never heard of such a society! I haven't just layed outside and looked at the clouds for a long time!
Oh wow, that pig cloud really is amazing! These people do sound a little freakish though.
Justine :o )
