Ketchup, Holiday Drama & a Contest

I've been spending all weekend playing catch-up (ketchup. hehe)
I've been catching up on sleep.
I've been catching up on blogs.
I've been catching up on laundry.
I've been catching up on spending time with my boys.

I've played a million games of Mario Kart, racing my boys.
Now my thumb hurts.

We celebrated Forced-Love Day as a family by hanging out at home all day with each other.
Playing games, watching movies, just being together.

My husband, Texas Homeboy, surprised me with an extremely thoughtful gift.
Our relationship has been rocky lately.
Normally, if I even get a gift, he's a last minute gift-giving kind of guy.
But two days BEFORE Valentine's, I came home from work to find he had bought and set up an external hard drive for my computer!

The best gift. JUST what I needed.
My computer was bogged down with thousands of photos and moving slow.
It was a thoughtful and wonderful gift.

I was touched.

Speaking of photos, UpTake is having a photo contest. You could win $250. Check it out!

Now on to the drama.
Remy, my 7 yr old, had to make Valentines for his whole class, of course,
But, Donny, my 12 yr old, is now in middle school and this is the first year ever he didn't have to make Valentines for the whole class.
Except, Friday, in school, his English teacher made them all make Valentines in-class. And they had to say something nice to each student.
Donny is respectful to all his teachers. And a good student. But this teacher sometimes drives him nuts because he feels like she treats them like children...young, stupid children.

And my son wrote down on one kid's Valentine, "Thanks for messing with Mrs. English Teacher."
And of course, the teacher saw this.
and pulled him out of class to talk to him.
And then called me.

What I've learned from this?
My smart, respectful son can make stupid decisions occasionally.

Now, let me leave you with this for now.
We've discovered our sweet Annie doesn't like stickers on her head.

Thoughtful gift. *Forced-Love Day* is a good observation. :-)

That video was cute! One time my dog rubbed the top of his nose raw until it started to bleed. I put a bandaid on it and he just left it there. I was surprised he didn't act like your Annie!

I love how you call V Day forced love day, very fitting!

I read it as "Annie doesn't like SNICKERS on her head"...

and I thought, " Well, duh... I wouldn't want Snickers on my head, either! The only place I want Snickers is in my belly!"

Sounds like a good group of hodge podge. Forced Love Day...hee, hee, hee.

That video is cute. Nice to know we aren't the only ones that do things like that to our dog. lol Thanks for popping over to my blog. Nice to find a Texas blogger. I was born and raised there, but now live in Canada. I miss it so. Take care.

I have an external hard drive... I haven't even hooked it up yet, because I know I'd become obsessed with organizing my millions of photos. Besides that, I'm afraid to 'move' my photos to it, because I've heard too many horror stories of people's external hard drives crashing and they lose all their photos... I would die!

We've all been guilty of making bad decisions.

That kid should have whispered it. Oh he is bold.

Sweet Annie. That cracks me up. We have done that to our cat before. He kept backing up, like he could back away from it.

That was pretty cool of THB... maybe he's trying to reach out...

What a cute video.

Ewww. The dreaded phone call. I would have found it hard to act as concerned as the teacher. It isn't the worst thing a kid can do.... right? I think it was pretty creative.

What an odd assignment to make middle school aged kids do?

Glad you got a nice Valentine's gift!

Be careful with the hard drive. I bought one, put all our photos on it and then it died, and I have no backup. From what I'm told the pictures are still intact and for several hundred dollars the manufacturer get them out for me.

What a racket.

Liked the video. Poor dog.

Sounds like a good Valentine's Day to me!

Oh, and talk about consequences...

Glad that you've been able to catch-up!!!
We force the kids to have bowling tournaments with us on the Wii. It is a sad thing when a 3-year-old can get a strike and a 46-year-old can't!!
Poor Annie - funny video however!

"Forced-Love Day!" That's genius!

I totally agree with that call.

However, I do not mind stickers on my head.

Go figure.

My thumb hurts from Mario Kart too! I'm kinda glad to hear you say that, because I was feeling really old.

Glad to hear your hubby did good!

Poor Annie! You're torturing that dog!

I have missed you, but you've more than made up for it by providing happy news, a good Valentime story, and a vid of Annie the Wonderdog. YAY!!!!

I'm glad you got a nice gift & had a nice day! As for Donny, I think kids are practically required by law to do dumb things at that age. I wouldn't worry much.
Love that Annie!

Of course she doesn't like stickers on her head.

As for Donny, I think it's ridiculous that the teacher made them write nice things to everyone, that drives me crazy that whole be nice o everyone thing. What if you don't like someone?

OMG, I really can't believe the shit that dog puts up with from you guys! I'm gonna say it again. One of these days she's gonna come up behind you and bite your ass!

Forced-love family day? That was hysterical! Congrats on the hardrive!
