It's Alive! Easter barf and a bride.

It's ALIVE!! My poor Land Rover (which is about 10 years old) has been out of commission for four months. Yes, FOUR MONTHS!! It blew a head gasket or something technical like that. I don't speak car, but my husband does, and he took on his monsterous project. It took him a while (have I mentioned he's an attorney, not a mechanic by trade?), and I drove the gnome mobile during that time but as of now, my Land Rover is alive again and ready to go! YAY! I've missed it. Yes, it's a gas guzzler, some of the windows don't work so well, the locks stick, the headliner's starting to fall, and the kids have done their best to trash the insides, but I love being high up and, most importantly, it's paid off!

Does your house look like this? Mine does...every room has a small pile of Easter-looking barf; broken plastic eggs, plastic grass, chocolate and candy wrappers. Colorful but messy.

Our sweet Annie, whom we adopted from DFW Lab Rescue this summer, is the love of our life. We spoil her and love her so much. This is her cushy couch-bed she got for Christmas...although she sleeps with my older son in HIS bed every night. So, maybe this is her daybed...

I had to share this next picture, because it is something I look at every day and can't live without. I had lap-band surgery back in November and have lost 30lbs so far. I still have more weight to lose, but it's a huge start. Anyway, I have to take in lots of protein every day, and the way I most enjoy doing this is with protein powder in my homemade smoothies. I'll have to share the recipe sometime soon, ,although it's super simple. Here is one, below, in my favorite Target cup:

Finally, I just couldn't resist sharing this portrait of me, in my wedding dress, taken almost 12 years ago! I can't believe it's been that long.

If you've made it this far down into the post, congrats! This was a long and random post today. The boys' Spring Break ended and they went back to school today. It was hard waking up early this morning. I worked all day as well, so I'm beat and trying to overcome a bad headache. I also banged my head on a cabinet trying to take a picture of the car in the garage. Sigh. The price I pay for my blog. lol

Gotta love a vehicle that is paid for and still runs.

Our kids started Spring break this week.

My son started Spring break last Thurs. and has off all this week. He's 14 and into playing some type of Xbox live game which is competing with my blog time.

I love when I get to take hubby's truck... a Ford F-150. I feel so ALL THAT sitting up high. I can't park it real well so I have to find spots I can pull thru or ones at the end. LOL

Your wedding picture is really lovely!

Hey, Jeff! Paid off is hugely wonderful. The car has over 130,000 miles on it though...we'll see how long it lasts. Enjoy your Spring Break! Hope you don't hear that "B" word too much (bored).

Thanks, Crystalchick! Enjoy your Spring Break as well. What Xbox game is he playing? We have an xbox as well. Those big trucks can be very hard to park, I agree. My Land Rover isn't too long, thank goodness. I learned how to drive in a suburban, which was a little scary...

Annie doesn't look happy - is she all right?

Have a lovely day! :-)

Oh...I should have posted a wedding photo on my anniversary, but I guess I got too caught up in the softball playing :-) That would be a fun thing to blog...trips down memory lane. Hmmm...is everything blog fodder for you, too? I just commented on another blog that I read that I need to write about the connection between Harrison Ford and my PhD in Anthropology :-)

And regarding Easter barf...we don't buy the grass anymore...and I don't get plastic eggs (the ginormous easter egg hunt was with someone else's eggs!)...

Your wedding dress is very pretty. The photographer didn't catch the details on my dress in any of the photos, and it doesn't look good at all! Oh well.
I've already thrown away the plastic eggs, I don't think my two year old will notice.

Hey, Tez, Annie isn't upset or sick or anything. If you look closely, you can see her pink tongue out licking the floor. She was working on a bone or a piece of a bone (all those weird white things in the picture). lol

Hey, Kat! Yes, you should have posted a wedding picture! None of my wedding photos are scanned in and I don't have a scanner, so the only thing I could do was take a picture of my wedding portrait that's on our wall. lol I want to scan some of my wedding photos though, for fun. I would love to hear about your PhD/Harrison Ford link. Sounds very interesting...you're teasing me! I actually don't buy Easter grass anymore but my mom (helpfully) lent me some for our baskets and I felt compelled to use it. lol

Thanks, Tearese! Our wedding photographer was WONDERFUL. I really need to scan some of our photos in to share.

My Jeep is 10 years old and I love it so much. She is starting to show her age...the tailgate usually needs help to stay up...the driver's side and the right passenger side automatic locks do not work any more...the headliner is starting to fall down...and the a/c doesn't always work, but I cannot think about replacing her yet. She is a member of the family.

Hey, Scarlet! Glad I'm not the only one cruising around in an old junker. Have you named her? Mine's name is Oberon...and I don't think I've ever told anyone that before!

Hey, pictures are pictures! I take pictures of all kinds of silly things. The process is fun, so I guess I don't do it so much for the pictures themselves. But what a joy when they actually come out!!!

I'm not the best photographer, but I have my moments!!!!

Can't wait to get pix of my neighborhood when Spring finally gets here and everything is in bloom.

Hey, Jacq, thanks for coming by! Spring makes for lots of good photos, I agree. :o)

My husband is a mechanic by trade and it still takes him FOREVER to finish work on our cars. so I know the feeling.

Rhea said...

Hey, Sa, thanks for coming by! It seems like, with cars, you just never know what can and will go wrong in the process of fixing them. All car projects tend to take longer than anticipated, at least when my husband does it. lol

Please do share some of your recipes. I am still working on getting the protein in. I can't believe I don't know how to make a smoothie. Like the wedding pic. ;)

Rhea said...

Thanks, Grandy! I'll share that smoothie recipe soon, I promise! Today was a crazy day with my car breaking down again...more on that later.

I have a love-hate relationship with my car but it is really hard to beat "paid off".

That is one cushy bed!

Hey, Dawn! I can totally understand the love-hate thing. I do have a little bit of that going on as well. So many things have broken on it...but I still love it.
