My 14-year-old son has had:
6 broken bones,
several sprains,
and
less than a month ago he had a bad appendix
and now...
It's his knee.
He had a MRI yesterday, and we'll find out tomorrow what's going on.
I'm really hoping he doesn't need surgery!!
(and I'm not even going to mention that in 3 months he can get a learner's permit and start driving! Oh, vey!!)

Isn't there a consignment shop in your area where you can trade him out? My youngest was like that -- always something physical happening. My oldest got horrible colds, ear infections, etc., but the body staying intact. Ah, the joys of motherhood!
Reading this makes me happy I have a daughter!
