I'm not including photos because it wasn't pretty.
A few nights ago I held a pity party in my honor.
No one else was invited.
It was all about me.
I was pitiful.
And I cried a lot.

I was pitiful.
And I cried a lot.
It was cathartic.
I felt better later.
And then the next day...I had puffy eyes.
This is a new symptom of my thirties.
I never had puffy eyes in my twenties.
Not like this.
Good lord have mercy.
It was painful!!!

So, I started searching online for remedies.
I read to drink lots of liquids
so that you're more hydrated,
which can lessen the puffiness.
Apparently, the excessive salt from tears
causes the skin around the eye to actually retain more water
causing that puffy look.
Thick slices of ice cold cucumbers for ten minutes
were recommended by lots of sites,
as well as cold strawberries.

Strips of grated potato were mentioned...
and ice cubes wrapped in towels...
witch hazel soaked wash clothes or hot tea bags...

Do you cry gracefully?
Do you have a blotchy face or puffy eyes afterwards?
Have you tried any of these remedies?
Had a pity party in your honor lately?

Well, no, not lately.
But when I do, a cold washcloth works wonders.
Hope you are feeling much better!!!
I wear thick glasses that hide the post pity party puffiness quite nicely.
We missed you in Vegas...
I like St. Ives Cucumber Gel for those nights...

I am not a pretty crier. I have not tried any of these but I will.
When I allow myself to "go there", it is not pretty. I guess anything cold will help reduce the puffiness:-)
I dislike myself crying, so usually I dont even look in the mirror afterward. It's a strange love/hate relationship I have with myself.
Crying makes me a hot mess. Yes, it's cathartic, but the clean up is an effort. Cold wet washcloth for me!
I just had a pity party. And I cried. And I cry ugly.
no way around it.
I don't cry very often at all, but my life is a constant self-pity party! The tea bags are probably the best for all things skin related like that because of the tanic acid in the leaves.
Justine :o )
Not lately, but a pity party held by me, in my honor, once left me nearly blind the next day. I'm not kidding!! My eyes were swollen nearly shut :(
OH this one made me laugh.. and cry! LOL I've had lots of pity parties. If it's a really bad one, I can't breathe out of my nose for hours after because I'm so clogged up. LOL
Sometimes if it's just a little cry, where the mascara gets runny but not a full blown sob fest, the cool wash cloth is a good fix.
At least it is only when you cry. I have it everyday...courtesy of genetics. How did you get to doge the bullet on that one!
I've tried tea bags, by the way. They stained my face!
I've also heard that Preparation H works miracles!!!
