Stop and Buy the Lemonade!

Over the weekend the boys decided they really wanted to do a lemonade stand. Our neighborhood is off the beaten path, so it doesn't get a lot of traffic, but we found a shady place and gave it a go.

I brought my camera along and took lots and lots of pictures of the boys. Here's Remy!
And Donny (might be time for a haircut, no?)
and of course, Annie!

After an hour or so...they started drinking the lemonade. lol It was HOT.

and we started getting bored. Donny is clearly wondering here, "Where are the customers?"
So, we broke out the sidewalk chalk...yes, those are my big flowers, my boys won't draw flowers and that's about all I know how to draw. An artist, I am not.

Then the boys started to get rowdy and attack each other and the dog...

Uh, oh, Remy looks like he's getting upset...
Yep, that's an upset face for sure.
Then Donny starts throwing ice to Annie, who is a pretty good catch. She's also hot, so the cold ice tastes good.
And, then, of course, someone bumped the lemonade table and it all spilled...

After two hours, we only had four customers. Many, many neighbors drove past without stopping. What's with you, people?!! Stop and buy lemonade! I always try to stop and buy lemonade from little kids who are selling. No matter what.

It's the experience, right? :-) We are tucked back into our neighborhood...but there are some girls that always seem to have a successful stand toward the entrance to the subdivision. Katie wanted to know once why we didn't buy *that* house...

I keep trying to comment here and it never goes through..so trying again. :O

I really enjoyed the pictures/story, and I most certainly would have purchased some lemonade.

Ahh...I do so love sidewalk chalk!!!

Here's hoping this goes through! :)

I liked the play by play action...I totally would have bought lemonade if I had driven by.

Looks like alot of fun! I love how they had options- Crystal Light and Regular! Their idea? Big E had his first lemonade stand when we had our neighborhood garage sale. It was cold out, and some people gave him money without taking the lemonade. He was happy getting the money, but couldn't understand why they didn't want his lemonade.

What a shame that those passerby's forgot what it's like to have a lemonade stand as a kid. Looks like the guys (and Annie) made lemonade out of lemons anyway! Ha ha.

One time we had a kool-aid stand and we had salt water taffey we were selling. It was getting dark and bats started flying near us and we thought it was because of all the fruity drinks we had. We were so dumb. :o)

Here here. You HAVE to stop at all lemonade stands. How can you not pay $.50 for sugary lemon water? :)

We have had our share of lemonade stands, and it makes the kids' day when someone stops. Sad that people can't slow down these days, huh?? Looks like your boys had fun, though! Love that Annie.

WOW That is sooooo like in the movies!!! *GiGGLeS*

Seriously... I've never seen or heard of kids having lemonade stands here!!

SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!! xx

Heh - don't you love those people who don't humor you and your kids and spend the $.50? It's so lame-o.

It was over 100 degrees here this weekend. I wold have bought the whole pitcher if you were in my neighborhood!

Loved this! Ahhhh, the joys of childhood. What a great photo opportunity. Your neighbors should definitely stop!!

I am feeling so,so guilty right now. I usually think "how cute" but don't stop. I promise that I will stop at the next one that I see. I don't think kids do them here. I will have to look that word up.

We finally got our tickets. I will give you a big Texas wave as we drive through the North Texas region down to Houston. You'll be the one with the permanent lemonade stand, right?

Ha! Great fun. I am glad they had at least 4 customers. I remember my sister and her friend (our neighbor) selling candy once. The only one who bought anything was my dad! lol

Laura - Thanks for being willing to buy lemonade! I couldn't believe how many people passed us without stopping.

Kat - It is the experience, you're right. The boys saw how much it cost to buy the lemonade, what went into getting it ready, deciding how much to sell it for, etc. It was fun. That's funny about the kids wanting a different house where the lemonade selling was better. hehe

Gypsy Heart - I'm so glad you were able to post! I don't know why it hasn't been going through. That's frustrating! I love sidewalk chalk too, such a fun way to express ourselves.

Kiera - Thank you for being willing to buy lemonade too! Glad you enjoyed the post.

GoMommy - I thought that was wonderful they had options. Most people wanted to Crystal Light, too, since it was less calories..and it actually tasted great.

Angie - I know, people do forget what it's like. Shame, shame, shame on them!! We jumped up and waved at everyone who drove by too.

Valarie - A kool-aid stand sounds yummy...and taffey too! Wow! You had a more unique stand. Bats liking the fruity drinks, huh? hehe

All Things BD - The boys were putting the lemonade in huge plastic cups too, not tiny, pathetic ones. It was definitely worth the $.50. lol

Uberburber - The boys were so excited when people stopped, I agree, and I wanted to run out there and make every person stop. lol Scary, I know!

Giggles - really, no lemonade stands in Australia?! You're going to have to start something new with your belly bean then when he/she gets older.

Tranny Head - I agree, lame people. One day, Sumo baby will want to sell lemonade and you will want people to stop. :o)

Jeff - We were in the 90's this weekend ourselves. It was HOT. You're awesome for being willing to buy so much! Thanks! lol

Andrea - Don't feel guilty, just stop next time you see one. Do they do lemonade stands in Germany? I hope you have a wonderful trip to Texas!

Cherrye - No customers would have been sad. That's funny about your sister selling candy. We have lots of kids selling boy scout popcorn or girlscout cookies, and I always feel obligated to support them and buy at least one thing. I like to support kids doing good activities, you know? Maybe I'm a sucker...

Oh bummer, not too many stopped for a treat but hey, you got to hang out together and draw on the sidewalk and have fun!!
I'll have to keep my eyes open for kids and their stands this summer and make sure and get some!!
And it's so cool that you get to include Annie in your fun. Our dogs are a mess when they go out anywhere.

I'm crazy for chronological picture stories especially boys and Annie !!Early enterprise - wonderful-- You are right I 'd much rather buy from the little guy than the big stores. I love to buy when I'm at yard sales. They lasted that long O K!!!

Bah Humbug! I don't care if I'm going to cause a massive vehicular pile-up, I always stop for lemonade stands. What's wrong with those killjoys?

Looks like the four of you succeeded in having a great day anyway--good for you!

this is one reason I'm reluctant to allow the gremlins to do lemonade selling. Plus, we live on a street that you can't park on. It's where the fire engines go down to get to the main roads, so no parking except in driveways.

Makes for a hard time selling lemonade.

Awww looks like they had fun anyway, people are just too wrapped up in their own busy lives these days, it's sad!

That pretty much sums up the day at all lemonade stands around the country. ~ Sounds like the boys and Annie had a good time despite the slow traffic.

I'm truly appalled that your neighbors drove by without stopping! How Rude!!!

Oh well, at least you had some quality time with the boys (and Annie) and you got some FANTASTIC photos!

Curses to the neighbors who didn't stop!!!!!

I'm glad I'm not the only who is astonished by people not stopping for lemonade stands! Thanks everyone, for your support and comments. :o)

I enjoyed the lemonade stand story. As for not getting too much customers, that's sad but you got great shots out of it. My daughter(6 yrs old) has been begging me to let her sell lemonade. Lemons are 2 for a dollar over here and she said she plans to sell the lemonade for 5cents.

I think people don't really carry cash around with them these days. I know thats the reason I never buy lemonade from stands.
