My Mushroom Madness

Taking pictures makes me really happy.

I don't know why.
I don't really question it.

It just makes me happy.

And my latest photo obsession has been with
the multitude of mushrooms growing in the backyard.

They grow so fast.

and in strange little groupings or colonies...

What makes them grow?
Why do they grow in some yards and not others?

I could Google "mushrooms" and figure it out.

But, I kind of enjoy the mystery.

I've heard, as a rule of thumb, that you shouldn't eat mushrooms
that grown in the ground...
but that it's ok to eat the ones that grow on trees.

I'm not rushing to test that though.

I don't like to eat mushrooms.

But, I've discovered that I really love to photograph them.

Have you been obsessed with anything lately?

Fungi scare me as a general rule of thumb!

I think everyone becomes captivated with a particular subject when they get into photography, maybe mushrooms are your thing! If you looked at my husband's camera, you'd see a lot of nature portraits and trees. That's his thing!

Well....just the camera itself. Trying to get the perfect shots. But come to think of it, I really like taking pictures of insects. Things like bees, grasshoppers.....
Just trying to get macro shots that show all the details of lots of things.
I recently had one of those smurf villages on the farm. And you know I took pictures and blogged about it.
I like taking pictures of mushrooms from a frogs point of view. You know, from the ground up toward the mushroom. Those are fun, if you can get a good one.

All the mushrooms in my yard are slightly pornographic.

Your mushrooms are cute. Like they might actually have fairies living nearby. Mine are more like the ones in Mama Dawg's yard. They are rather phallic. Maybe I'll take a picture just for you ;-)

Where do you get the moisture down there in Texas to grow mushrooms?

I don't like mushrooms but hubs really does. Still, I definitely wouldn't feed him any that have been growing in our yard or any we've seen on trips to the woods. Not even if I was mad at him. ;)
