Hyperactive Galaxies

Every now and then, I hear or read something that boggles my mind.

Looking almost 11 billion years into the past, astronomers have measured the motions of stars for the first time in a very distant galaxy and clocked speeds upwards of one million miles per hour, about twice the speed of our Sun through the Milky Way.
A hyperactive galaxy.

Has anyone seen that new show, Defying Gravity?

In the near future, eight astronauts from five countries (four women and four men) undertake a mysterious six-year international space mission covering thirteen billion kilometres. With the eyes of the world upon them - everything they do is monitored, and every emotion they feel, scrutinized - they soon discover that their real assignment is not at all what they thought.

I LOVE it!!

Any new shows you're excited about?
Are you into space like I am?!

THAT I will tune in for!
I'm also looking forward to most of the new shows on ABC. This entire Fall line up looks promising. I hope it delivers!

I am pretty excited about Glee...and of course rather bittersweet about the last season of LOST.

Defying Gravity has already started. It's about three episodes into the season. It's AWESOME.

Yeah, I don't think that one will do it for me. I'm not a big "space" person.

Um, I feel spaced out quite a bit, ha! I really like True Blood and I am not at all a vampire liking genre person.

Six years seems like such a commitment. I could have only been an astronaut back in the Mercury or Apollo programs when the missions were a day or two.

I've been watching it, it is pretty good. I heard it is getting bad ratings though & is in danger of being canceled.

Great story you put together, as an astronomer my mind gets boggled everyday with all that the astronomy world offers, specially when updating my astronomy news page!
