A Fitting Tale

In this photo, my 14 yr old son is mowing,
wearing shorts that he bought with his own money.
Money he earned mowing.

Fitting, yes?

Do you have your children do chores?
Do you pay them?

interesting.
my kids are too young to do chores (3 yrs, and 6 months) BUT my husband and i have this discussion a lot. he wants to pay them for chores. i do not! maybe because i never got paid for chores as a kid, i just got yelled at if it was done wrong!

i think we might pay them if they go above and beyond, like do more than their share of chores... or really ghastly tasks, like cleaning the shower drains. bleh!! :)

I believe in "allowance" for general assistance in helping keep things going. But if you don't keep up your end of the bargain, then no money for you....

Yep my two do chores. And even use their money to buy their own stuff - like lego and books. :) Happy SITS day!

Last year my husband decided to start paying my then-14-y-o daughter to mow the grass, so she could learn to manage money. It worked so well, she's now (age 15) employed part-time at Chick Fil A - big money, big money! It definitely turned her into a worker-who-works-to-earn-her-own-money. Pretty successful, I'd say!
(Oh and I "followed" your blog)

That's great. I'd love to do that with my kids. It teaches them the value of money and earning it.

Hopping by from SITS. COngrats on your feature day!
