Oh my. Yikes. My mother can't sew a button, much less a dress. Of course, I'm sure my little brother would still be paying for therapy now if she had ever dressed us alike. He doesn't look good in florals anyway.
We had matching floral dresses too. Good for you for posting the picture. My sisters and I were just making fun of our floral dresses this past weekend. They were in style back then. I swear.
My mom made a lot of our clothes when I was in grade school... I remember a lot of polyester elastic waist pants... ya.. the kink old ladies wear... and the most humiliating was a plaid pant suit... it defies description...it haunts me to this day...
I *love* making my girls dress alike. But since I cannot sew...and neither could my mom...so I escaped the curtains for clothes. But she might have bought some for me...
and who hasn't worn the "curtain dress" with the big bow??
I can top that anyway... I wore a big satin puffy old prom dress that was my cousins for her prom in her wedding, and it was a faded orangey-peachish color with a HUGE bow on my butt, and then a HUGE bow in my hair from left over fabric of getting it shortened some and fitted. UGH!! talk about hideous!!
This look in the picture is cute and done with love... the wedding stuff that happened to me, that was just cruel. My parents and my cousin should have been charged with child abuse!! ugh!!
Totally! My lil sis and I are abt the same age difference as you and Bug. When my older brother got married we weren't made bridesmaids which ticked my mother off so she got out the sewing machine and made us dresses that were fancier than the real bridesmaid/flower girl dresses! I was so embarassed!
Um........Do I have to say? My mom made some of my clothes. Some were really cute, others......I'm back to Ummmmmm.

ReplyDeleteI do NOT like it when parents dress their kids in the same clothes... But my God, those curtains are lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh. Oh dear. That's um, cute? Disturbing? I'll go with a little bit of both.
ReplyDeleteexactly and in ours our hands are in gloves sticking like pokers out to the sides..hahaahah

ReplyDeleteUmm, I'm not sure, but if she did, I can guarantee there is no photograpic evidence.
ReplyDeleteYou need to go over to www.wearethatfamily and put this on her blog carnival. Its all about older pictures of ourselves.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes my Mother put me in clothes like that. :(
Unfortunately, I do remember looking at pictures where my sis and I were in some strange outfits. Although for the '70's maybe they were really cool.
ReplyDeleteMy mum & I had constant battles over Laura Shley dresses and my hatred of them - so yes I totally empathise!
ReplyDeleteSadly yes. Laura Ashley was all the rage in middle school and high. Right there along with shoulder pads.
ReplyDeleteOh God ... yeeees! And who really wants to dress like their younger sister, really???
ReplyDeleteMom used to dress us alike, but luckily she didn't know how to sew, so no curtains for us;) LOL
ReplyDeleteYep, pretty sure my mom did it.
ReplyDeleteFortunately, the evidence is in Texas! Maybe there will be a fire soon!
