A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it

These little guys are hanging out, waiting for mommy to return.

They look hungry!

Here are the parents!

If you look closely, you'll see a bug in the mommy's beak.

And, here she is, feeding the baby.

  1. Rhea, How totally cute is this? Lucky you for getting their pictures. Now I know, since you did a time-lapse kind of thing, that they must be somewhere close to you. So where do these little guys live?

  5. Wonderful! I love that first photo with them all looking hopefully over the edge of the nest, so cute. I can't resist baby birds went they squak with their mouths gaping wide open waiting for a meal.

  6. Misty Dawn - Barn swallows, is that what they are? Thanks for identifying them for me!! lol

Sharon - They did make cute little noises everytime they heard their mother come flying by. And she was very upset I was taking pictures, even though I wasn't close to the nest at all.

  21. great shots! we have swallows, too and a couple of these mud nests attached up in our eaves. interestingly, tho, our swallows build their mud nests directly on the stucco on the SIDE of the house with just a little hole for entrance/exit (unlike yours that have the whole top open like a traditional nest). weird, huh?

  28. Thanks, everyone, for stopping by and leaving a comment!

I really did take these photos. It wasn't at my house but at a friend's house. I spent a long time sitting there waiting for the mama bird to show up, climbing up on a chair to get good shots of the nest, etc. It was time consuming!

I used my camera, which is a Powershot S5, kind of in between a SLR and a point-and-shoot. It has AMAZING zoom capabilities, more than any other camera I've had.
